Some artists paint quickly enough that they finish an entire piece in one night, however that is not me. I get a good start on the painting during your reception, but don't finish it all in one night. I take paintings home with me and spend anywhere from 16-24 hours doing finishing touches and fixing anything that may look "off." Because this is not my full time job, this can be anywhere from 2-10 weeks after your wedding.
Due to the amount of labor that goes into each painting, I do not issue refunds for completed or in-progress paintings. If a wedding is cancelled, you will be refunded all money except for the retainer. If I have to cancel my appearance for any reason, you will receive a full refund (or you can use the money paid towards a painting to be completed after your wedding.
It is all personal preference! All artists have a different style, you just have to go with whoever's style resonates with you! I lean towards realism, however I want your piece to look like a painting and not a photograph; my hope is that your piece makes you feel as if it was painted by a friend, and contains all of the love you were surrounded by on your special day.
Once you pay your retainer, the date in my calendar belongs to you! On your wedding day, I will arrive to the venue 1-2 hours early to set up my equipment and take some photos of the ceremony space. I'll take my reference photos during the ceremony and head back to my easel, where I'll paint throughout your reception. I typically pack up around 9pm, and take the painting home to finish in the next 2-10 weeks. Once its finished, I will send you a photo for final approval (unless you want it to be a surprise!) and from there we can set up delivery/pickup or mail!
Live Painting is one of the ultimate guest experiences! Having an artist paint you (the bride and groom!) in real time during your reception is an incredibly special thing; you and your guests will get to see the artistic process from start to (almost) finish. Everyone is usually skeptical in the beginning during what I call the "ugly stage." The magic really happens once color starts coming into the picture, and your guests can see a version of you coming to life on canvas!
